* Whittier La Serna’s Matt Spain made six of his eight three-point shots in the fourth quarter of a 78-72 overtime loss to West Covina. Spain finished with a game-high 39 points.

* Downey Calvary Chapel guard Tim Drisdom scored his 2,000th career point on a free throw and finished with 14 points as the Grizzles defeated Santa Ana Calvary Chapel, 53-48.

* Crenshaw defeated then-No. 9 Rialto Eisenhower, 74-73.

* Los Alamitos defeated then-No. 16 Mission Viejo, 64-55.

* Encino Crespi defeated then-No. 17 North Hollywood Harvard-Westlake, 77-71.

TEAMS ON THE RISE

* Palm Desert. The Aztecs (10-2) took third place in the Bronze Division of the Las Vegas Holiday Prep Classic.

* Los Angeles University. The Wildcats (9-1) beat Burbank, 63-48, to win the Bell-Jeff tournament.

* Costa Mesa Estancia. The Eagles beat Western, 43-42, to win the Garden Grove tournament.

LOOKING AHEAD

* Top-ranked Westchester plays Thursday through Saturday in the National Division of the Academy National Invitational in Houston. The field also includes Mouth of Wilson (Va.) Oak Hill Academy, Concord De La Salle and New York Rice. * Fairfax, Santa Margarita, Eisenhower and Loyola are among the Southern California teams competing Wednesday through Saturday in the National Division of the Torrey Pines National Prep Classic. Thousand Oaks and Capistrano Valley are among the teams competing in the American Division.

* Inglewood and Redondo Union play Wednesday through Saturday in the Slam Dunk to the Beach tournament in Lewes, Del.
