Cochise, Ariz., 8, Pierce 7--Left fielder Keith Jenkins threw out Andre Monroe at the plate to end the Palomar tournament game.

Peter Gunny and David Johnson had two hits each for Pierce (1-1).

GIRLS’ WATER POLO

Agoura 9, Newport Harbor 3--DeDe Perram and Erika Clark each scored three goals and the Chargers (21-4) finished fifth in the Irvine tournament.

MEN’S BASKETBALL

Glendale 71, Bakersfield 57--Michael Schnyder had 21 points for the Vaqueros (17-9, 5-3) in a Western State Conference Southern Division game at Glendale.
