Westlake 65, Agoura 52--A run of monumental proportions did in the Chargers in a Marmonte League game.

Agoura, trying to win a share of its first league title since 1995 after finishing 4-21 last season, took a 37-28 lead with 3:21 left in the third quarter on a three-point shot by Kevin Cornwell.

But Westlake (14-9, 8-4) outscored the Chargers, 25-5, over the next 8 1/2 minutes to take a 53-42 lead with 2:54 left in the game.

Kole Anderson, who scored 18 of his 20 points in the second half, started the onslaught with a mid-range jump shot and Devin Entrikin capped it with a basket inside. The Warriors rained down three-point baskets in between those buckets.

“They came out and hit two or three quick jump shots and we went flat,” Coach Joe Riccio of Agoura said. “We didn’t respond. . . . Westlake played a great game. They deserved to win.”

The Warriors made 24 of 45 shots, including 12 of 14 after Agoura (20-5, 9-3) took its nine-point lead.

Tyler Adamczyk had 16 points and 16 rebounds for Westlake.

Kevin Cornwell and Adam Allegro each scored 13 points for Agoura.
