Westlake (14-9) will open the Southern Section Division II-AA playoffs at Whittier La Serna on Friday, but the Warriors don’t view themselves as underdogs after finishing third in the competitive Marmonte League.

Not after winning five of six games to close the regular season and defeating second-place Agoura, 65-52, Friday night.

Westlake’s only loss in its last six games was a 54-53 decision to league champion Thousand Oaks.

“This is a good basketball team and a good league,” Westlake Coach Rich Sanders said after the Agoura game. “Of the nine games we lost this season, six of them came when we had key people out with injuries.”

Tyler Adamczyk, a 6-foot-6, senior forward-center is averaging 15.8 points and 10.4 rebounds. Seniors Kole Anderson and Adam Mazarei form a quality backcourt.

Anderson is averaging 16.6 points, hitting 60% of his three-point shots, with 3.4 assists and 3.4 steals.

Mazarei is making 46.9% of his three-point shots and averaging 11.3 points and 5.6 assists.
