It was a battle of former Notre Dame High baseball players last weekend during the USC-UCLA series.

Pitcher Kevin Jerkens of UCLA and infielder Jonathon Brewster of USC kept meeting up. On Friday, Jerkens was brought in while Brewster was on first base as a pinch-runner. Five times, Jerkens threw over to first to keep Brewster close.

On Sunday, Jerkens struck out Brewster with the bases loaded. But Brewster came through with a single in the 11th, stole second and scored the winning run.
