In other City Championship quarterfinal games:

Fairfax 69, Washington 64--Craig Smith scored 25 points and Evan Burns added 19 as second-seeded Fairfax defeated Washington in a quarterfinal Wednesday night at Fairfax.

Fairfax earned a semifinal showdown with third-seeded Fremont, a 92-62 winner Wednesday night over Gardena.

“[Fremont] is quick and they bring a lot of pressure, which is something we saw when we played Westchester,” Fairfax Coach Harvey Kitani said.

“We just have take care of our part and come out and play our game.”

Smith, a senior forward who has signed with Boston College, and Burns, one of the top junior forwards in the nation, helped the Lions hold off a Washington team that got 33 points from UCLA-bound forward Andre Patterson.

Jasha Bluntt added 13 points for Fairfax, which finished second in the Western League to top-seeded and defending champion Westchester.

Fairfax led, 39-37, at halftime and 55-50 after three quarters. The Lions led by 10 points in the second half.

Fremont 92, Gardena 62--Six players scored more than 10 points for the third-seeded Pathfinders in the victory at Fremont.

Shelvion Williams led the way, scoring 22 points and grabbing 11 rebounds for Fremont, which led, 44-28, at halftime.

Willie Dunn had 14 points and 10 rebounds and Earl Felix added 13 points and 11 rebounds for Fremont, which shared the the Coliseum League title with Crenshaw.

Kenton Paulino added 12 points, Darrell Sanford had 11 and Mark Bradford scored 10 for Fremont.

INVITATIONAL

Carson 69, Birmingham 46--Jordan Farmar scored 16 points and Haig Tatian added 15 points and eight rebounds for the Patriots (10-11) in a quarterfinal loss at Carson.

Greg Mayfield scored 15 points and Rodney Marshall and Erroll Jackson each had 10 for the Colts.

Carson had a 12-point halftime lead and increased the advantage to 20 points by the end of the third quarter.

Narbonne 76, Reseda 74--Dowzi Nzewa made two free throws with nine seconds left to lift the Gauchos in a quarterfinal at Narbonne.

Sergei Lepiashinski had 24 of his 32 points in the second half before fouling out for Reseda (14-13).
