Lake Forest Teenager Dies From Injuries After Single-Car Crash
An 18-year-old motorist died Saturday after he lost control of his car Friday evening and crashed into a tree in the center divider of a major Mission Viejo highway, authorities said.
Justin Whitting of Lake Forest was pronounced dead at Mission Hospital Regional Medical Center in Mission Viejo around 4 p.m., said Joseph Luckey, a supervising deputy coroner.
Whitting suffered major head injuries in the 10:26 p.m. Friday crash as he drove southbound on Trabuco Road, Luckey said.
The teenager apparently lost control of his 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix while trying to change lanes just south of Carlota Drive.
