As expected, Santa Ana Calvary Chapel cruised through the Southern Section Masters wrestling meet Saturday at Fountain Valley High, crowning six champions and advancing a record 10 wrestlers to the state finals next week.

“I doesn’t get any easier. And the pressure is tremendous,” said Calvary Chapel Coach John Azevedo, whose previous best was nine state qualifiers in 1994.

State finals start Friday at the University of Pacific at Stockton.

While team scoring is downplayed in the two-day Masters tournament, Calvary Chapel scored 239.5 points, 144 points ahead of second-place Temecula Valley.
