S.F. Woman Dies After Attack by Dogs
A woman died after two large dogs attacked her outside her Pacific Heights apartment building Friday afternoon.
Two bull mastiffs bolted from a neighbor’s apartment at about 4 p.m. as the woman, in her early 30s, was coming home, police spokesman Sherman Ackerson said.
One dog mauled her as the other tore at her clothes. The caretaker tried in vain to pull the dogs off.
The woman died Friday night after two hours of surgery on her neck, according to a nursing supervisor at San Francisco General Hospital.
The attack lasted five to 10 minutes, Ackerson said. The woman was unconscious with severe neck injuries by the time help arrived.
She was taken to the hospital in full cardiac arrest. She immediately underwent surgery, hospital spokeswoman Gloria Rodriguez said.
