David Huff

Edison, Baseball

Huff, a sophomore left-hander, pitched a two-hitter with six strikeouts and one walk to lead Edison to the

Southern Section Division II baseball title Saturday at Dodger

Stadium. Huff did not give up a hit after the second inning and allowed only two runners past first base. He faced 24 batters, three over the minimum. The Chargers defeated Riverside Poly, 5-0, for the school’s first baseball championship.

Pitched a three-hitter and struck out nine to lead El Dorado to its second Division III title in three years.

Finished second in the 1,600 at the state finals in 14:14.09, edging Ben Aragon (14:14.24) of Santee West Hills.

Nicole Sandberg

Orange Lutheran, Softball

Sandberg, a senior, knocked in two runs to help the Lancers to a 4-0 victory over Lancaster Paraclete in the Southern Section Division V softball

championship game Saturday at Barber Park in Irvine. Sandberg drove in Laura Miklos with a single down the first-base line, beginning a three-run third inning. She capped the scoring with a squeeze bunt in the fourth that scored Rachel Bomgren. It was the Lancers’ first title.

Esperanza, Softball

Pitched 11 2/3 shutout innings, giving up six hits and striking out 11 in 1-0 loss to Rancho Cucamonga in Division I final.

Woodbridge, Track and Field

Finished second in the long jump (20 feet 5 inches) and second in the triple jump (41-1 1/2) at the state finals.
