In other nonleague volleyball:
No. 4 Capistrano Valley 3, No. 7 Corona del Mar 1--Jared Levy had 32 kills and Nic Vislay had 30 for the host Cougars (2-0), who won, 15-9, 15-9, 15-13. Brian Gallagher had 20 kills for Corona del Mar (0-1).
In the Costa Mesa/Foothill baseball tournament:
Bolsa Grande 4, Estancia 3--Alex Guadarrama singled home the winning run in the seventh for the Matadors (2-0), who play Newport Harbor today at 3 p.m. Estancia is 1-1.
Orange Lutheran 7, Brentwood 2--Jon Talmage had three hits, drove in two and scored a run for Orange Lutheran (1-1), which won its first game under new coach Mark Langston.
In the Loara tournament:
No. 1 Villa Park 8, Katella 6--Bryan Arguello walked three times, stole three bases and scored twice and Ricky Sims had two RBIs for Villa Park (3-0), which plays El Dorado at 3 p.m. today in a semifinal at Villa Park High.
El Toro 2, Marina 0--Junior Geoff Sargent pitched a three-hit shutout in his first varsity start. Sargent struck out six and walked one. Blake Gasca hit a solo home run in the sixth for El Toro (2-1).
In the Montebello tournament:
Westminster 9, Orange 6--Fred Rodriguez (2-0) pitched five scoreless innings and had three hits and two RBIs, and cousin Jaime Rodriguez had three hits and three RBIs for the visiting Lions (3-0), who play Montebello or Whittier Pioneer in the championship game Saturday at 11 a.m.
In a semifinal of the North Orange County tournament:
No. 5 La Quinta 8, Corona Centennial 1--Brian Kelley had two hits and an RBI for La Quinta (4-0), which can win its fourth consecutive North Orange County title at 3 p.m. Friday at Fullerton College. The Aztecs will face Downey Warren, which beat Santa Fe Springs St. Paul, 3-2.
In nonleague golf:
Capistrano Valley 198, No. 5 Aliso Niguel 203--Junior D.J. Reeves had three birdies and was medalist with a one-under 34 for host Capistrano Valley (4-0) at Marbella. Matt Schreiber shot 36 for Aliso Niguel.
In nonleague softball:
Santa Ana 5, Anaheim 4--Jessica Casillas singled home Gracy Delgadillo with the winning run in the bottom of the seventh for the host Saints (3-1). Alana Washington stole four bases for Anaheim (1-2).
In nonleague girls’ swimming:
No. 10 Canyon 90, No. 6 Esperanza 79--Courtney Mathewson won the 50 freestyle (24.7 seconds) and 100 free (55.56) for the host Comanches (3-0). Kristina Sieper of Esperanza (1-1) won the 200 individual medley, recording a Southern Section Division I qualifying time of 2:12.97.
In nonleague boys’ tennis:
No. 3 Los Alamitos 10, University 8--Kevin McQuaid won all three of his singles sets for visiting Los Alamitos (2-1).
No. 6 Woodbridge 12, Santa Margarita 6--Justin Mendelson and Bijan Noroozi swept at No. 2 doubles for the Warriors (2-1). Santa Margarita is 1-2.
Edison 10, Long Beach Wilson 8--Kevin Chang and Ian Plummer won the final set at No. 3 doubles to give Edison (2-2) the victory.
