Torrance Bishop Montgomery (27-6) vs. Rosary (24-8)

6 TONIGHT PYRAMID, LONG BEACH STATE
This could be one of the quickest-paced games of the day. Each team is aggressive defensively and likes to push the ball on offense. Also, each is playing for its first postseason title this season. Bishop Montgomery has five double-figure scoring threats: Noelle Quinn, Nykia Peace, Iris Dulay, Samania Black and Melinda Loera. Containing Quinn could be critical for Rosary, since she can play guard or forward and might present a matchup problem. Rosary, which lost to Bishop Montgomery in last year’s Southern Section championship game, 69-56, probably will go only as far as its defense takes it. Jen Farner, who is averaging 4.5 steals, Jenise Karcher (2.8) and Gayle Sonoda (2.4) provide much of the spark. Sonoda sprained her ankle in the game on Thursday. Rosary is vying for its first trip to the state finals; Bishop Montgomery has won three state titles in five years, including last year. Rosary, which is shooting 49.8% from the field, is playing in its fourth consecutive playoff game on the road.
