Four Letters of Intent Arrive for Northridge Track Teams
Rashaad Dixon, a long- and triple-jump specialist from San Bernardino Valley College, has signed a letter of intent with the Cal State Northridge men’s track and field team.
Distance runners Liz Camy of Chico High, Michelle Ziser of Sultana High and Angela Talarico of Eisenhower High in Yakima, Wash., have signed letters of intent to compete for the Matadors’ women’s team.
MEN’S SOCCER
* El Camino Real High’s Zach Feldman, the Times’ 2000-01 boys’ player of the year, and Chaminade’s Alec de Mattos have signed letters of intent to play at Cal State Northridge.
The Matadors also signed Todd Jaramillo of San Clemente High and Juan Guerrero of Vista.
WOMEN’S GOLF
* Evelyn Lussier of College Regina Assumpta in Lavay, Canada, has signed a letter of intent to play at Cal State Northridge.
WOMEN’S TENNIS
* Coach Gary Victor of Cal State Northridge has been named Big Sky Conference Coach of the Year.
He led the Matadors to a 22-9 record and their first Big Sky championship. Victor, in his fourth year, has posted a 69-38 career record at Northridge.
GIRLS’ BASKETBALL
* Kristin Nadas, a 6-foot-1 center from Moorpark High, signed a letter of intent with Humboldt State.
SOCCER
* Grace Brethren High in Simi Valley will expand its varsity program next school year to include boys’ and girls’ soccer, Athletic Director Scott Nandor said.
Nandor will resign as athletic director to coach the boys’ team.
A girls’ soccer coach and athletic director have not been hired.
MISCELLANY
* Cal State Northridge kinesiology students will hold a Mother’s Day Run, Walk and Wheel fund-raiser for the university’s new adaptive aquatic therapy center.
The event begins at 8 a.m. with a wheelchair race, followed by a 10-kilometer run, a 5-kilometer run and a mother/child one-kilometer walk. Information: (818) 677-3205.
