In the Sea View League:

Irvine sweeps--Irvine won its seventh consecutive league title with 560 points. Newport Harbor was second (455) and Laguna Hills third (376).

Newport Harbor’s Nicole Mackey set a meet record in the 100 butterfly, winning in a county-best time of 55.90. Mackey was pushed by Flora Kong of Irvine, who finished second in 55.99. Mackey eclipsed Amanda Beard’s 1999 time of 56.82.

Freshman Diana MacManus of Irvine set a record in the 100 backstroke, winning in 55.63. Mackey took second in 57.23.

Winning their sixth league title, the Vaquero boys were led by Gonny Shimura, who won the 100 backstroke (52.08), Nick Yu, who took the 100 breaststroke (1:01.90) and Tyson Beamer, who won the 50 freestyle (22.31). Irvine finished with 640 points, followed by Newport Harbor with 432 and Laguna Hills, with 360.

Aaron Peirsol won events in the 200 individual medley in a county-best time of 1:54.37 and the 100 butterfly (50.78). Ryan Lean also won two events for the Sailors, taking the 200 freestyle (1:46.60) and the 500 freestyle, also a county-best time of 4:35.30.

In the Century League:

Volcan leads Canyon--Canyon won with 445 points behind Erin Volcan, who won the 100 breaststroke (1:08.66), the 200 individual medley (2:06.67) and anchored the winning 200 medley and 200 freestyle relays.

In the Pacific Coast League:

Hayes tops two county marks--Jessica Hayes swam a county-best 1:51.45 in the 200 freestyle and 51.40 in the 100 freestyle to lead the University girls to the league crown with 536.5 points.

In the Sunset League:

Fountain Valley wins--The Fountain Valley boys trailed by 30 points heading into the 100 breaststroke, but took first, third, fifth and seventh to win the league title by seven points.

The Esperanza girls won the league title, led by Erin Sieper, who set a meet record in the 100 breaststroke (1:03.49) and swam on the 200 medley relay (1:51.46).
