Santiago Canyon Road Crash Kills 1
A driver was fatally injured Monday after losing control of her car and plunging over an embankment on Santiago Canyon Road, authorities said.
The accident happened about 7:30 p.m. when the driver, whose identity was not immediately available, struck a guard rail as she was traveling south near Modjeska Canyon Road in a 2001 Jaguar. She was transported to Mission Community Hospital in Mission Viejo, where she was declared dead about two hours later, said Officer Mark Reeves, a spokesman for the California Highway Patrol.
The cause of the accident is under investigation, Reeves said.
