Basabe, A’s Sink JetHawks
Jesus Basabe had two hits, including a three-run home run in the sixth inning, and the Modesto A’s defeated the JetHawks, 6-4, in Modesto.
Matt Kata doubled and singled, and Brian Gordon singled twice for Lancaster (18-15).
John Patterson, a 6-foot-5 right-handed pitcher, will join the JetHawks this weekend to start a rehabilitation assignment. Patterson, a former first-round draft pick by Montreal, missed nearly the entire 2000 season with an elbow injury after landing a roster spot with triple-A affiliate Tucson. He’s scheduled to start Sunday at home against the Mudville Nine of Stockton.
