Amritraj Advances in Singles Competition

Top-seeded Stephen Amritraj of Crespi High and the No. 1 -seeded doubles team of Phil Sheng and Andrew Lieu of Thousand Oaks advanced to the round of 16 Saturday at the Southern Section singles and doubles tournament at Thacher High in Ojai.
Amritraj defeated Shara Surabi of Burbank, 6-1, 6-0, and Tim Mullane of Agoura, 6-3, 6-2.
Sheng and Lieu defeated Jeremy Blatter and John Beck of San Marcos, 6-1, 6-0, and Todd Kingsling and Vik Tiku of St. Bonaventure, 6-1, 6-1.
