Lakewood St. Joseph def. Exeter, 15-7, 15-4, 15-10--Jennifer Daniels had 12 kills and Jamie Blomgren had 11 kills for the second-seeded Jesters, who needed an hour to dispatch the Central Section runners-up in a Southern Regional Division III first-round match at St. Joseph High.

Heather Laudato had 10 kills and 12 digs, and Ashleigh Anderson finished with eight kills and eight digs for St. Joseph (22-10), which never trailed.

Setter Nicole Ridley had five kills, 42 assists and two aces for the Jesters. Ridley served five consecutive points to give the Jesters a 7-2 lead in Game 2 and six consecutive points to build a 9-1 lead in the third game. Jenna Tomei ended the match with an ace.

St. Joseph swept Garden Grove Pacifica to win the Southern Section Division III-AA championship and will host San Diego University, which swept Pacifica.

Kelley Williamson led the seventh-seeded Monarchs (17-2) with six kills and two aces.
