A 29-year-old man charged with setting a fire at a Granada Hills townhome that killed his 4-year-old son and injured his ex-girlfriend could face the death penalty, a judge ruled Thursday.

Duane West is accused of pouring nail polish remover over Nicole Taylor’s head, then setting her hair on fire July 9.

Taylor testified at a preliminary hearing Thursday that West also poured the flammable liquid on his son, Marquise Diantae McDonald, who died as a result of his burns.
