Deputies Kill Man Holding Steak Knife
Ventura County sheriff’s deputies responding to a domestic violence call Saturday in Thousand Oaks shot and killed a knife-wielding man when he allegedly refused to drop his weapon.
The 56-year-old man, whose name was withheld by authorities, was taken to Los Robles Regional Medical Center in Thousand Oaks, where he died shortly after 6 p.m.
The shooting occurred shortly after 5 p.m. in front of a house in the 900 block of East Avenida de Las Flores, said Senior Deputy Lee Morris.
The man allegedly battered his wife, who fled to a neighbor’s house where someone called 911. When deputies arrived, they found the man in front of his home holding a steak knife.
Morris declined to say how many times the suspect was shot but several neighbors reported hearing as many as five rounds.
