The New England Patriots activated Terry Glenn on Saturday, clearing the way for the wide receiver to play today against the San Diego Chargers.

Glenn returned to the team Monday for his first practice in more than two months after serving a four-game suspension for violating the NFL’s substance abuse policy.

Coach Bill Belichick said last week that Glenn had better than a 50-50 chance of suiting up against the Chargers.

“I’m sure that he’ll be able to study and learn and get the plays down and get his assignments down,” Belichick said earlier in the week. “But doing it at full speed with the quarterbacks, with the adjustments ... that’s another matter.”

The Green Bay Packers activated defensive tackle Cletidus Hunt from the suspended list for today’s game against the Baltimore Ravens.

Hunt, who has not played since the exhibition finale Aug. 31, sat out the first four games because he violated the league’s substance-abuse policy for a second time.

The Packers released tight end Bobby Collins to make room for Hunt. The Packers acquired Collins from Buffalo on Aug. 7.

Hunt, who joined the team in practice last week, started 11 games last season, seven at end and four at defensive tackle.

The Chicago Bears signed long snapper Ryan Benjamin in case regular Pat Mannelly can’t play and made room on the roster by releasing quarterback Shane Matthews-for one game.

Mannelly is listed as questionable for today’s game against the Arizona Cardinals because of an ankle injury. To make room for Benjamin on the roster, the team temporarily released Matthews, but intends to re-sign him next week.
