Adidas Scores on World Cup Investment

A costly marketing spree at the soccer World Cup appears to have paid off for global No. 2 sportswear and equipment maker Adidas-Salomon, which unveiled a larger-than-expected rise in second-quarter profit.

Adidas, which ranks behind U.S. giant Nike, said net profit climbed 4% to $24.2 million.
