Blake Faces Civil Lawsuit
Actor Robert Blake could go on trial as early as June in the civil wrongful death lawsuit filed against him by his deceased wife’s children, a Los Angeles County judge said Monday.
Bonny Lee Bakley’s four children sued Blake for his alleged role in the May 4, 2001, fatal shooting of their mother in Studio City.
Blake has been held without bail at Men’s Central Jail in downtown Los Angeles since he was arrested April 18 and charged with murder in connection with Bakley’s death.
Superior Court Judge David M. Schacter set a June 30 trial date in the civil case but noted that Blake’s attorneys may choose to delay the civil proceedings until the criminal case is resolved.
The suit, filed in Burbank, seeks unspecified monetary damages.
