Christine Sinclair scored her second goal in the second overtime period Sunday, giving Portland a 2-1 victory over Santa Clara in the NCAA Women’s College Cup final. It is the Pilots’ first national championship.

Sinclair, a Canadian national team player who tied the score, 1-1, in the 61st minute, put back a rebound of her own shot for the win in sudden-death overtime.

It was Sinclair’s 26th goal this season and her 10th of the tournament.

Devvyn Hawkins scored for Santa Clara, which won the 2001 national title, defeating North Carolina, 1-0.

It was the third Women’s College Cup final to go to overtime. Portland lost to Notre Dame, 1-0, in triple overtime in 1995.
