Guns N’ Roses tour faces cancellation

The fate of the Guns N’ Roses tour, which started last month with a cancellation and a riot in Vancouver, Canada, was on shaky ground again after a Philadelphia show on Friday was called off, enraging fans and pushing the tour’s promoter to reconsider the viability of the entire enterprise.

By midday Monday, MTV was reporting that the tour was canceled and word spread throughout the music industry that Axl Rose and company had proved too unstable for Clear Channel, the corporate promoter behind the tour. A spokeswoman for Clear Channel said an update on the tour would be given today.

A staffer at Sanctuary, the New York-based management company for the band, said Monday that “everything is up in the air at this point” but added that “there might be some changes to the tour, but to say it is canceled, that is not the truth.” The tour schedule includes a Jan. 3 date at the Forum in Inglewood.
