Neighborhood Councils to Receive City Money
From Times Staff and Wire Reports
Neighborhood councils will soon get their first city funding, which they will be able to access using “stored value cards,” Mayor James K. Hahn and Controller Laura Chick announced Thursday.
Hahn had previously proposed giving each of the advisory councils $50,000 annually to spend on operating expenses and improvement projects.
The cards, similar to debit cards, will allow each of the 58 certified neighborhood councils to pay for expenses of as much as $12,500 every three months, including $500 in petty cash.
