Kavi Vyas, a boys’ water polo player from Garden Grove Rancho Alamitos, and cross-country runner Catherine Coppini of Hayward Moreau Catholic High are the fall recipients of the California Interscholastic Federation’s Spirit of Sport Award.
Student-athletes are nominated for the award based on their community and school service.
Finalists for the fall award included Rose Barnes and Ryan Welsh of Murrieta Calvary Chapel, Peri Hanawalt of La Verne Bonita, Carolyn Pettit and David Rasp of Camarillo, Sarah Randolph and Andrew Koomen of Whittier Christian, Tanya Vacharkulksemsuk of Chino Hills Ayala and David Lawrence of Redlands.
Nicole Gragson, Ali Dillion and Caroline Blood of Long Beach Wilson have made their college commitments.
Gragson and Blood, who play softball, have signed with Ohio State and Hawaii, respectively, and Dillion, a volleyball player, has signed with San Jose State.
