A look at the final regular-season top 10 girls’ water polo teams in the Southland:

1. Santa Margarita (23-3, SS-Div. I)

Santa Margarita will have to earn its points today against Capistrano Valley goalkeeper Meridith McColl in first-round playoff game at Saddleback College, which is the home pool for both schools. (No. 1 last week)

2. Foothill (23-2, SS-Div. I)

As expected, the Knights are the second-seeded team in their division. They open today at Tustin High against Woodridge and high-scoring sophomore Jacquelyn Gauthier. (2)

3. Corona del Mar (21-7, SS-Div. IV)

Sea Kings received a wake-up call Friday after losing to Anaheim Canyon, 9-8, in regular-season finale. They open playoffs today vs. visiting Ocean View. (3)

4. El Toro (19-8, SS-Div. I)

Adrian Beaney scored her 89th career goal Friday against Villa Park, breaking the school record of 84 set last season by Ke’ala Carter. (4)

5. Bell Gardens (27-1, SS-Div. III)

A fourth consecutive section title seems inevitable for Bell Gardens, which opens play today against visiting Chadwick. (5)

6. Newport Harbor (21-6, SS-Div-I)

Sailors play host to Esperanza today, then figure to meet San Clemente in Saturday’s second round. (6)

7. Arlington (20-7, SS-Div. V)

Arlington leapfrogged over Riverside North to get the No. 1 seed, but teams figure to meet again in the final. (7)

8. Long Beach Wilson (19-9, SS-Div. I)

It’s hard to tell which team will show up, the one that upset Santa Barbara two weeks ago in the SoCal tournament, or the one that was upset four days later by Capistrano Valley. (8)

9. Santa Barbara (20-6, SS-Div. II)

Santa Barbara got the nod after defeating Ventura in a Channel League finale last week, but same teams are expected to get a rematch in section final. (9)

10. Anaheim Canyon (18-9, SS-Div. I)

Comanches closed out regular season with upset over third-ranked Corona del Mar. Irvine visits for first-round game today, Santa Margarita could be next. (NR)
