Savvy Strategies for Solo Diners

Share

Bravo to Martin Booe for sampling the Los Angeles solo dining scene (“Going Solo,” Restaurants, Dec. 9). And kudos to the restaurants that looked after him as if he were a party of 10. But why leave the quality of a dining-out-alone experience to chance when savvy solo-dining strategies are available? If you can claim cherished regular status (highly recommended for solo diners) at a restaurant where they know your name and are happy to accommodate your dropping in, no problem. If not, it’s easy to enhance the odds of receiving the hospitality you crave: Make a reservation. So few solo diners do that the act of making one will set you apart as a discerning solo diner, deserving of superb service.
