L.A. Unified Switches Three Schools to Four-Track, Year-Round Schedules
Los Angeles Unified School District trustees voted at Tuesday’s board meeting to put three schools on year-round schedules.
Muir Middle School and 61st Street Elementary School in Los Angeles and Walter Reed Middle School in the San Fernando Valley will operate on four-track year-round schedules, with 180 days of instruction beginning in the 2002-03 school year.
After the 6-1 vote, board members voted 4 to 3 to approve an amendment requiring that the three schools have a 180-day schedule, instead of having the option of a three-track schedule with 163 extended days.
The amendment ensures that the three schools will have the 17 additional days of instruction.
