Deputies Raise Boat From Castaic Lake

Share

A high-performance speedboat that capsized Jan. 11, killing all four men aboard, was recovered from Castaic Lake on Wednesday by L.A. County sheriff’s deputies. County divers attached inflatable sacks to gradually lift the 30-foot vessel to the surface in a process that took nearly five hours. The boat was then taken to a sheriff’s storage facility, where detectives will further examine the craft. The body of one victim was found immediately after the accident, and the other three have since been recovered. “The boat was secondary to the whole operation,” Deputy Bryan White said. “It’s not like it was going anywhere, and the victims needed to be recovered first.”
