Money Down the Drain

It comes as no surprise to me that the L.A. Department of Water and Power overcharged the state on energy sales (June 29). Three times in the last few years my sewer charges have exceeded my water charges by 300%! I asked how is it possible for three times more water to flow out of my house than comes into it?

“Oh, they do that to save you money,” was the straight-faced reply. What a shame that the role of city government has changed from public service to making a profit. I’m fed up with it. Until the DWP charges a fair price, based on reality, I’ll be paying the imaginary portion of my sewer bill with an imaginary check.
