Galaxy to Host Korean Night

Looking to ride the wave of euphoria from South Korea’s surprising run to the World Cup semifinals, the Galaxy announced Monday that Saturday’s match against the Kansas City Wizards at the Rose Bowl would be designated Korean Heritage Night.

The Galaxy and its parent company, Anschutz Entertainment Group, hope that the event sends a message to the Korean soccer federation and Major League Soccer that the team intends to sign a Korean player for next season.

“In this world here and in our city today we cannot field a soccer team that represents this community without a South Korean player,” AEG President Tim Leiweke said.

Besides bringing in Korean musicians, dancers and food, the Galaxy will honor South Korean assistant Hae Sung Chung.

Also, anyone wearing a T-shirt with “Be the Reds” on it will be able to purchase an $18 ticket for $14.
