Votes Being Counted on Community Center Tax

From Times Staff Reports

Homeowners will learn next week whether a new tax will be added to their property assessment bills to help pay for a proposed community center.

Ballots were sent to voters in unincorporated Oak View in recent weeks. Results will be announced at the Ventura County Board of Supervisors’ meeting Tuesday.

Supporters and opponents of the proposed tax, ranging from $25 to $100 per year for each property, appeared before supervisors this week to voice their views. The proposal calls for the community to buy the mothballed Oak View School and transform it into a park and family resource center.
