New Orleans Saint quarterback Aaron Brooks did not report to training camp and has not contacted the team.

“Yes, I am surprised,” General Manager Mickey Loomis said Saturday. “We haven’t heard from him, and we don’t know why he isn’t here. No one’s talked to him.”

Loomis said he assumes Brooks’ failure to report Friday night was a contract holdout.

Brooks is in the final year of his contract, making the league minimum of $400,000. The Saints made an offer to Brooks and received a counter offer from Brooks’ agent, Andre Colona.

Last season, Brooks tied a team record with 26 touchdown passes and set team records for yards rushing by a quarterback (358 yards) and total offense (4,190).

Running back William Green ended his five-day holdout by agreeing to terms on a five-year, $7.85-million contract with the Cleveland Browns.

Green skipped his senior season at Boston College to turn pro after gaining 1,559 yards and scoring 15 touchdowns.

Buffalo signed first-round pick Mike Williams, a 6-foot-6, 370-pound offensive lineman from Texas.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but the contract is expected to make Williams the highest-paid rookie in club history and the team’s third-highest paid player behind quarterback Drew Bledsoe and receiver Eric Moulds.

Philadelphia put running back Correll Buckhalter on the active list of players physically unable to perform. Buckhalter tore a knee ligament during minicamp in April.
