Police Recover Boy Left With Transient
Police Friday night recovered a 10-month-old boy missing since Thursday when his mother asked a transient woman she had met in downtown Los Angeles to look after him for a few hours.
Authorities said Stephanie Havatone, 30, left Elias Chavez at 628 S. San Julian St. about 11 a.m. with Denise Sanchez, who is homeless.
Police did not elaborate on why Havatone had asked a transient to take care of her child. It’s unclear how well the women knew each other.
On Friday night, Sanchez walked into the police department with the child, who appeared to be in good health, police said. Police were interviewing her.
