All You Need Is Love

On paper, today’s pick six at Santa Anita, which has a carryover of $202,790, looks like a pick five.

Love At Noon, one of three horses leading trainer Bob Baffert will send out, will be a very short price to beat only four opponents in the seventh race.

A 4-year-old Afternoon Deelites filly owned by Mike Pegram, Love At Noon is dropping from four consecutive graded stakes races in search of her third victory.

After breaking her maiden at Santa Anita last April 7 and winning an allowance race on the Kentucky Derby undercard at Churchill Downs on May 5, Love At Noon was second in the Grade III Dogwood at Churchill, second in the Princess Stakes at Hollywood Park, third in the La Brea Stakes on Dec. 29 and fourth in the El Encino on Jan. 20.

Sprinting again, she should be able to handle Madame Pietra, Harvest Girl, Filigree and Farah Love.

Four days ago, she went half a mile in 454/5, the best of 32 workouts at the distance that morning.

The other pick six races are a route for 3-year-old California-bred maidens, a mile event for $12,500 fillies and mares, an allowance sprint (61/2 furlongs) for 3-year-old fillies, a six-furlong dash for 4-year-old fillies competing for a $10,000-claiming price and a six-furlong race for $40,000 maiden 3-year-old fillies.

Making her comeback in the fifth is September Secret. In her only start, June 10 at Hollywood Park, the Our Emblem filly beat a field that included eventual stakes winner Ayanna and Tempera, who went on to win the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies. September Secret is trained by Mike Machowsky for the Lo Hi Stable.

Race of the day: The pick six sprint for 4-year-old fillies is wide open. Those playing the six are advised to spread in the field of 12 and hope for the best.
