Alverno Softball Pitcher Stewart Strikes Out 21

Freshman Jessica Stewart of Alverno on Wednesday became the seventh pitcher in Southern Section softball history to strike out 21 batters in a seven-inning game.
Stewart pitched a perfect game, striking out every batter in a 14-0 victory over Bishop Conaty Loretto to help Alverno (16-3, 9-0) clinch a share of the Horizon League title. The record for strikeouts in a seven-inning game is 22, set by Brenda Selvey of Chaffey in 1983.
