From Times Staff Reports

Police on Thursday released a composite sketch of one of two men suspected of robbing and severely beating a former local resident several months ago.

The 52-year-old victim, who has asked not to be identified, sustained major injuries in the attack and was unable to immediately assist police. He later recovered and moved out of the area but recently returned to help police with the drawing.

According to Det. Rick Perez of the Port Hueneme Police Department, the victim was attacked June 1 while walking with a friend in the 100 block of B Street. He was repeatedly beaten with a gun and kicked, Perez said.

The robbers may have believed the victim was carrying a large amount of money because he told several people that day that he had sold some property. However, he had only a small amount of cash on him, which was taken.

His friend was not injured.

The suspect whose sketch was released is described as about 6 feet 1 and 210 pounds. The other one wore a mask during the heist.
