What: Tom Lasorda’s rendition of “Casey at the Bat”

Where: Hollywood Bowl, Saturday, 8:30 p.m.

You never know what former Dodger manager Tom Lasorda might be up to next. Last weekend the Hall of Famer delivered an inspirational speech to the Notre Dame football team before its game against Michigan, which the Irish won. Delivering inspirational speeches to college football teams is something Lasorda has done a lot of.

But Saturday night he’s doing something he has never done. He’s appearing at the Hollywood Bowl as part of a “Strike Up the Bands” celebration, featuring the American Winds, conducted by Larry Curtis. Lasorda will narrate the classic ode to baseball, “Casey at the Bat.”

The American Winds is comprised of the top brass, winds and percussion players from the Los Angeles area. Also appearing as a special guest will be the Main Street Municipal Brass Band from Disneyland.
