Charles Woodson Out for Up to Six Weeks

Oakland Raider cornerback Charles Woodson will be sidelined up to six weeks because of a fractured right shoulder.

Woodson was injured midway through the second quarter of the Raiders’ 30-17 victory at Pittsburgh on Sunday but kept playing. An MRI test Tuesday revealed the fracture.

“He will be missed,” Coach Bill Callahan said Wednesday. “It’s a blow, because he’s a four-time Pro Bowl player. When you have a quality corner of Charles’ caliber, who’s played at an All-Star level, that’s hard to replace. It’s something we have to overcome.”

Carolina Panther offensive lineman Chris Terry has been tested for drugs more than a dozen times by the NFL in recent months, according to court papers filed by his estranged wife in a domestic violence case.

Nyquell Jackson-Terry filed the papers in Mecklenburg District Court this week, asking for copies of documents concerning urine samples taken from Terry by an NFL drug program agent.

The allegation comes as the couple square off in civil court. Jackson-Terry has accused her husband of breaking down a bedroom door in July while armed with a handgun and pushing her into a wall at their home in Charlotte, N.C.

Terry was not available for interviews following the Panthers’ practice, and Coach John Fox did not address the issue during a media session.

Atlanta quarterback Michael Vick said that a Chicago coach screamed “take his knees out” during the Falcons’ 14-13 loss to the Bears on Sunday.

Vick made the allegations, backed up by teammate Willie Jackson, against Bear defensive coordinator Greg Blache.

“They were coming up to hit me,” Vick said. “I heard one of their coaches scream, ‘Take his knees out!’ That was their goal, to knock me out of the game.”

Blache denied he wanted to injure Vick.

“He got his butt beat and now he wants to make somebody look bad,” Blache said. “Unbelievable.”

The Bears were penalized three times for roughing Vick.

Ted Washington, the 350-pound anchor of Chicago’s defensive line, could be sidelined for the season because of a ruptured ligament in his left foot and a broken bone in his left ankle. Washington, who hasn’t sat out a game since 1994, was injured in the Bears’ victory at Atlanta on Sunday....Joey Harrington, the third overall pick in April’s NFL draft, will start at quarterback for Detroit against Green Bay on Sunday. Harrington played behind second-year quarterback Mike McMahon in the first two games, both blowout losses for the Lions, who are 2-16 in the last two seasons....Green Bay right tackle Mark Tauscher will sit out the rest of the season after tearing knee ligaments in the Packers’ 35-20 loss to New Orleans on Sunday....Aaron Gibson, a 6-foot-6 offensive tackle and the NFL’s heaviest player at 410 pounds, was released by the Dallas Cowboys.
