Cross Burning Should Be Taken as Serious Threat to Anaheim Family

Share

Re “Neighbors Decry Anaheim Cross Burning,” March 20:

The police should give full attention to the cross-burning issue and not play it down as incidental or as just some small affair.

As the officers stated, “People don’t burn crosses on lawns as a prank.” Someone is serious, and just because it might be a teenager doesn’t lessen the threat against the lives of that family.

To the people who live in that neighborhood who are frightened: Don’t be frightened. Do something about it. We must not become a frightened nation. People will do to you only what you allow them to do. As a neighborhood, come together and send a message that you are not going to allow this in your community.

We as Americans need to recall our courageous history and get back some of the strength our ancestors had in making this country. We need to rethink the words of courage, rights, respect and honor without thinking these are out of style.
