Today, It’s Pick Six Heaven

Share

So much for the day after the Santa Anita Derby being anticlimactic.

A rather dreary card was spiced up considerably when no one was able to isolate all the winners in the pick six on Saturday.

Because there was a guaranteed pick six pool of $1 million for Derby day, there is a record one-day carryover of $732,097 this afternoon.

Three of the races in the sequence are on turf, including the $150,000 Arcadia Handicap, a Grade II at 1 1/8 miles.

Race of the day: California shippers Bossanova and Roll Hennessy Roll are among seven 3-year-olds scheduled to run in the $100,000 Lafayette at Keeneland.

Who’s hot: Eibar Coa. The jockey won four more races Friday at Gulfstream Park.

Who’s not: Thunder Twice. The Thunder Gulch gelding will probably lose for the 48th consecutive time in today’s second at Santa Anita.

Exotically speaking: A pick all singling Platinum Duke in the first, using Taj and Stephen Hayes in the second, Forthelifeofme and My Honey Bunny in the third, Devious Impact and Dash For Money in the fourth, The Borg Queen and Golden K K in the fifth, singling Bullistic in the sixth, Ballingarry in the seventh, Sombrio in the eighth and the Casual Thunder entry and Golden Rahy in the ninth.

Winners: Previous day/meet total: 3/215. Money: Previous day/meet total: $26.20/$1,213. Total money bet: $1,272.
