Morning Snow, who won both the Kindergarten and Ed Burke Memorial futurities in 2002, will make her first start as a 3-year-old tonight in the second of three trials for the Golden State Derby.

Owned by Charles and Dixie Patterson and trained by Donna McArthur, Morning Snow, a Texas-bred daughter of This Snow Is Royal, hasn’t raced since Nov. 29. She won her career debut on March 22, 2002 at Sunland Park.

She is among 21 3-year-olds trying to qualify for the $197,450 Golden State Derby. The 10 fastest qualifiers tonight will move on to the final on Aug. 16.
