Spector cut being released

A song by the British group Starsailor that was produced by Phil Spector shortly before his arrest in February on suspicion of murder will be released as a single in the United Kingdom on Sept. 1.

The single will be the title track from the album “Silence Is Easy,” and is one of two Spector-produced cuts that will be on the band’s second album, to be released Sept. 15 in Britain and tentatively scheduled for Jan. 27 release in the U.S. Other tracks were produced by John Leckie, who has worked with Radiohead and Stone Roses.

A Capitol Records spokeswoman said plans have not been set for a Starsailor single here.

The group will tour Britain starting Sept. 19 and is expected to add U.S. dates after the first of the year.
