In an attempt to reduce a one-year playoff ban imposed by the Southern Section on all Van Nuys Montclair Prep sports teams, football Coach George Giannini said he would resign if the sanctions were rescinded.
Montclair Prep is appealing the ban. As part of its appeal, the Mounties are proposing to have financial aid decisions made by an outside panel and establish a three-member committee to screen student applications. The appeal will not be heard by the section’s executive committee until April.
Boys’ basketball coach Tyrone Fuller resigned last week, and Giannini said he would join Fuller in an attempt to reverse the one-year ban.

Scott Feichter, a former mixed doubles tennis player on the club level and a longtime friend of Corona del Mar boys’ tennis coach Tim Mang, has been hired as Corona del Mar’s girls’ tennis coach.
Feichter, 52, replaces Andy Stewart, who resigned in December. Stewart guided Corona del Mar to four consecutive Pacific Coast League titles and two Southern Section Division IV championships in four seasons.
