Man Killed Trying to Run Across Street
A 54-year-old Hollywood resident was struck by a motorist and killed as he tried to run across Highland Avenue, police said Monday.
Mikhail Gankin was several hundred feet north of Franklin Avenue late Sunday when he was hit in the fast lane of southbound Highland Avenue, police said.
“The guy thought he could beat the traffic, and he thought wrong,” said Los Angeles Police Det. Lee Willmon of the West Traffic Division. The pedestrian was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, where he died. Police did not cite the driver.
