There are no new teams in the top 10, but there has been some reshuffling after Santa Ana Mater Dei tied Torrance Bishop Montgomery, Riverside Poly lost to Mira Loma Jurupa Valley, and Pomona Garey tied La Verne Bonita last week. Santa Margarita, the top-ranked team in the nation by Student Sports magazine, is in for a rigorous week as it is scheduled to play host to Riverside Poly in a nonleague game Monday before playing Serra League contests at Mater Dei on Wednesday and at Bellflower St. John Bosco on Friday. Long Beach Wilson also will play three games this week, capped by a Moore League contest Friday against perennial power Long Beach Millikan.

With Lake Forest El Toro making its debut at No. 10, that makes five South Coast League teams in the rankings. The Chargers defeated Dana Point Dana Hills, last week’s No. 1 team, 2-1, and also beat Mission Viejo Trabuco Hills, 3-0. Dana Hills is still looking for its first South Coast League victory after tying Mission Viejo, which is seeking its first South Coast win after tying San Clemente -- a team that beat Mission Viejo Capistrano Valley, 2-1, in league. North Hollywood Harvard-Westlake recorded a 2-0 Mission League victory over rival West Hills Chaminade and beat up on Mission Hills Alemany, 6-0, to post its ninth shutout in 12 games. Aliso Niguel and Long Beach Wilson, which both recorded ties in key games, fall out of the rankings.

Just because there’s no movement within the top 10 this week doesn’t mean there wasn’t any action. Santa Ana Foothill defeated Corona del Mar, 6-3, in a matchup of the region’s top teams on Wednesday. Foothill’s defense, led by goalkeeper Emily Feher, limited the Sea Kings to two goals in 12 extra-man situations. Corona del Mar will be tested again tonight against Long Beach Wilson at Belmont Plaza. Newport Harbor received two goals each from Jenna Murphy and Annie Wight in a 7-4 victory over Santa Margarita on Friday. El Toro only allowed five total goals in victories over Mission Viejo and Carlsbad. The Chargers hope to continue that strong defensive play today against visiting Santa Margarita. Santa Barbara has a big game today, playing host to Channel League rival Ventura.
