No. 3 Pittsburgh Takes Advantage of Hot Hands

Donatas Zavackas scored 16 points to lead No. 3-ranked Pittsburgh to an 80-61 victory over West Virginia on Tuesday night at Morgantown, W.Va.

Julius Page, Ontario Lett and Jaron Brown each scored 14 points for Pittsburgh (13-1, 3-0 Big East), which shot 63% from the field, including 10 for 18 from three-point range.

Drew Schifino had 18 points for West Virginia (9-5, 1-2), which lost for the first time at home this season and was held to its third-lowest point total this season.

No. 6 Connecticut 83, Virginia Tech 65 -- Ben Gordon scored 24 points and Emeka Okafor had 19 for the Huskies (11-1, 2-0 Big East), who shot 69% from the field in the second half at Hartford, Conn.

Okafor finished with 12 rebounds and had all five of his blocked shots in the second half. Gordon had two of his three steals during a 21-3 run that ended a 54-54 tie.

Terry Taylor had 16 points and seven rebounds for Virginia Tech (6-8, 0-2), which shot 28% in the second half and went 11 minutes without a field goal.

No. 10 Notre Dame 68, Rutgers 57 -- Matt Carroll scored 25 points, Chris Thomas had 19 and the Fighting Irish (14-2, 2-1 Big East) made 22 of 23 free throws at South Bend, Ind.

Carroll capped a 14-2 run with a three-point basket with 5:19 left to give Notre Dame a 59-49 lead.

Herve Lamizana had 14 points and eight rebounds for Rutgers (8-6, 0-2), which made five of nine free throws.

No. 16 Kentucky 74, Vanderbilt 52 -- Gerald Fitch scored 16 of his 18 points in the second half, and the Wildcats (12-3, 3-0 Southeastern Conference) rallied from a 14-point deficit at Nashville for their sixth consecutive victory.

Reserve freshman Mario Moore had 17 points for Vanderbilt (8-6, 1-2), which was coming off an upset of then-No. 4 Alabama.

No. 21 Marquette 85, Tulane 73 -- Dwyane Wade scored 35 points to lead the Golden Eagles (11-3, 3-1 Conference USA), who shot 59% from the field at New Orleans.

Waitari Marsh scored 30 points for the Green Wave (7-8, 0-2).

Idaho State 74, Cal State Fullerton 66 -- Anthony Bolton scored 20 points for Fullerton (5-9), which at one point trailed by 20 points at Pocatello, Idaho.
