Coldplay delights

I’m just writing to commend Robert Hilburn on his excellent article on Coldplay. First, I am completely obsessed with Coldplay and was in the second row at its Hollywood Bowl concert, so you can imagine my delight at discovering Hilburn’s fantastic article while enjoying my morning cereal. He presented Coldplay in a glamorous yet truthful and informative light and I really appreciated it.

Funny that The Times would praise Coldplay for its sincerity in the same issue that dissed Rooney for its lack of irony (Record Rack, June 29). I think reviewer Lina Lecaro missed the point on this band, whose ear candy is offered without apology (and needs none). Don’t let the lukewarm review scare you away from the best pop album to come out of Los Angeles since the Plimsouls’ debut 20 years ago.
